Volunteer Receptionist / Computer Lab Facilitator
In-person at Learning Centers
Perform basic administrative tasks, greeting students and guests, answering phone calls, directing inquiries, and help students with the use of computers for educational purposes.
Description
Serve as the initial point of contact at our Learning Centers, greeting students and guests, answering phone calls, directing inquiries, managing the reception areas, assisting and troubleshooting at the computer lab, and helping with basic administrative tasks. Ensure a positive first impression for all who enter the Learning Centers.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome students and guests as they enter the Learning Center.
- Direct them to the appropriate person and classroom.
- Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls.
- Provide basic information about our programs, in-person and via phone.
- Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable.
- Assist students in logging onto a computer when needed and guide them in
using the assigned educational software. - Regularly assist students in resolving common basic technical/computer
problems related to the educational software. - Perform any other duties related to the position as needed.
Requirements
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Be able to pass an annual background check.
- Have at least a High School Diploma.
- Willing to commit for at least 6 months.
- Willing to volunteer for at least 90 minutes per week.
- Complete the initial and on-going trainings provided by Literacy Phoenix on a timely manner.
- Volunteer only in the locations specified by Literacy Phoenix.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education desired.
- Experience volunteering desired.
- Experience teaching and/or tutoring.
- Proficient with the use of digital literacy applied to instruction and daily life needs.
- Willing to learn and follow directions.
