We are glad to bring back the volunteer program, after a long pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass an annual background check.

Volunteer Tutor
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Provide one-on-one, individualized instruction of English, particularly in the areas of vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation, to adults whose native language is not English.

ABE/ASE (Adult Basic & Secondary Education) &
GED® Preparation Classes
Provide one-on-one, individualized instruction to adult learners to improve basic skills in reading and math and prepare them for the GED tests to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.

Volunteer Tutor – Virtual
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Provide one-on-one, individualized virtual instruction of English using a video conference platform service, like Zoom or Teams, particularly in the areas of vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation, to adults whose native language is not English.

Volunteer Virtual Tutor

Volunteer Receptionist / Computer Lab Facilitator
Perform basic administrative tasks, greeting students and guests, answering phone calls, directing inquiries, and helping students with the use of computers for educational purposes.

Volunteer Teacher at Public Library – ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
Teach English language, along with two other volunteers, to a small group of adults whose native language is not English, at various City of Phoenix Public Library Branches.
